The Lasts Days! When?
Michael Penny
When we read the expression "the last days" in our Bibles we automatically think of the times leading up to Christ's return, but are we right in doing so?
"The last days" is a translation of the Hebrew achariyth hayyamim, which occurs just fourteen times in the Old Testament. The expression is translated by such varying expressions as "the last days", "that latter days", "days to come", "the future".
The author looks at each of these references and shows that each one is associated with a prophecy He then endeavours to find out when that prophecy was fulfilled, or when it will be fulfilled.
This enables the reader to ascertain what is meant by "the last days". However, it is not the intention of this publication to give a detailed exposition of each of those prophecies. Rather the aim is to find out when that prophecy was, or is, to happen. In doing this we will have a better understanding of what the Bible means by achariyth hayyamim, "the last days".
That Wonderful Redemption
Athol Walter
The question the unbeliever should ask is, “What must I do to be saved?” But ….. the believer should ask, “What did God have to do in order to save me?”
This book deals mainly with the second question. However, we do not need understand how salvation works in order to be saved. God saves the sinner purely on the basis of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for sin and His resurrection. But surely a desire to understand and know in part how it works must surely follow.
God’s Plan of Salvation is made up of a number of parts, each one being necessary to the success of the whole. Moreover, if any one of the parts is absent or fails, then the whole scheme fails. It is this teaching that underlies what is presented here.
However, it must be said that no matter how much we know or understand how God’s wonderful salvation works, we will never fully know it all, never completely understand it all, and will never be able to answer all questions.
Moreover, there comes a time when all the studying and analyzing must stop, and we simply must bow in submission and adoration and appreciation before our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The Knowledge of God
E W Bullinger
“It is quite one of the ‘signs of the times’ that the Godhead is becoming a subject of discussion; and that doctrines connected with the Trinity and the Virgin birth, are considered as open questions, not affecting the standing or faith of a Christian.”
So wrote the author over 100 years. But if that was the case in his day, how would he have reacted to the current state of affairs where, as well as the Virgin Birth being doubted (denied), so too are the resurrection and the deity of Christ.
However, there is another, more fundamental, personal question, which lies beneath all this. That question is: How many of us really know the God whom we worship? Is it not the case with very many that they worship “the unknown god”?
The true knowledge of God can be found only in the Bible and some of the highest revelation of Him is found in three of Paul’s later letters: Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. However, as Christians become less familiar with the Bible there is a danger that the God they worship becomes the ‘god of their imagination’.
This booklet does much to get us back on track; back to the Bible and back to knowing the true God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sorrow Not ..... as others who have no hope
Lloyd Allen
Lloyd Allen was born in Canada in Toronto, in 1926. There he received his schooling and became a photo-engraver. At the age of 45, at the urging of his wife, he followed his earlier wish for higher education and after 8 years of evening studies at the University of Toronto he graduated with a BA in Geography and Sociology from the University of Toronto. He now lives in retirement in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.
This book is written from personal experience of pain, suffering and death. He and his wife had a handicapped child who died young and, at present, his wife has had Alzheimer‟s for the past eight years and is now in a nursing home where he visits her every day. Just before the onset of that illness, they had completed the text of the book they wrote together, The Church! When did it begin?
