The book of Joel is about two days, two events.
The first is The Day of the Locust: a locust infestation of unprecedented severity, but this was only the prelude to something far, far worse: The Day of the Lord. The challenge of Joel is to distinguish between these two occasions, the former had already happened, but the latter loomed on the horizon and could still be averted. Was it?
Charles Ozanne was born in Crowborough, Sussex, in 1936. He read Theology at Oxford before undertaking research in the book of Revelation for his PhD at the University of Manchester under F F Bruce. He then worked as an editor for the Paternoster Press for a time. At present he enjoys retirement on Guernsey, where he lives with his wife.
