The author has worked with old jewellery and gems for forty years, but considers the finest gem in the world to be God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures. To assess a jewel correctly seven factors must be considered by the gemmologist:

Is it genuine?
Its colour
Its clarity
The cutting
The setting
The size
Is it damaged?

Drawing upon the skills of his profession, the author, in a most interesting and authentic way, applies the above seven factors to the Bible. He suggests that Bible students must apply each and every one of those factors to the Scriptures if they are to assess correctly the passage they are considering.
