In his last letter the apostle Paul tells us not only that "All Scripture is God-breathed", but also that all Scripture "is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." All this so that "the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

That being the case, there is a message for everyone of us in every book of the Bible and such messages can come from the most unexpected places. One such place is the Old Testament book of Ruth. It can be read through in less than fifteen minutes at one sitting. Situated between longer books of Judges and 1 Samuel, it has but four short chapters. However, it brevity in no way diminished its significance of the value of its message for today.
