The book of Joshua is the book of Jesus, as in fact it is called in the Septuagint (LXX), the first translation of the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek. To the eye of faith it speaks of ‘Jesus’, the pioneer and perfector of our faith who, for the joy set before Him, endured the Cross, despising the shame (Hebrews 12:2).

However, unlike Joshua,. Who failed to give the People of Israel a permanent enjoyment of rest in the promised land, his namesake, Jesus Christ, made a glorious entry into rest in the heavenly Canaan, and now invites His disciples to press forward towards that goal.

There are very many valuable lessons Christian can learn from the study of Old Testament types, much of which can be applied to ourselves, either directly or indirectly.
