During His time on earth the Lord Jesus Christ taught many things by the way of parables, outstanding amongst them is The Parable of the Sower.
As a parable is stands on its own and seems to be intended as a key to understanding all other parables, for Christ insisted, "You do not understand this parable? How then are you to understand any parable?" (Mark 4:13)
Nico Baalbergen gives a thorough and though provoking treatment to The Parable of the Sower linking it very much to the kingdom of God which he emphasises in the kingdom of God. Thus neither the parable nor the kingdom can be understood apart from God's sovereignty intervening in the affairs of man for no amount of human effort will ring about His kingdom. |
