This is E W Bullinger’s excellent treatment of the perplexing passage in 1 Peter 3:17-4:6 which speaks of The Spirits in Prison.
Some interpretations have forced words away from their natural meaning and usage; some have disregarded the laws of grammar; whilst others have taken the passage out of its context.
Bullinger lets the words mean what they say and with his usual thoroughness allows the passage to speak for itself.
