John wrote to Jewish Christians, to give them assurance of eternal life and to emphasise how to distinguish the true from the false, in themselves as well as in others. Therefore 1 John is a letter from which we can all learn.

This booklet is written in the form of eight question studies, exploring the main themes of the epistle. It is intended for small Bible study groups, but is equally suitable for private use.

We hope and pray it will be helpful in opening up the message of this letter, so that we, too, may have assurance of our hope in Christ and confidence to go on in Him, learning to look for the good and having confidence to shun the false.
