Collection: Colin Smith

Colin Smith is a retired Methodist Local preacher who lives in the High Peak of Derbyshire, England. His 25 years of preaching was mainly, but not entirely, within the loving intimacy of small, rural congregations. Throughout his Christian life he has regularly led and attended house groups and conferences. He has authored a number books, and had had a number of articles published in Christian magazines, including Search.

He was born in 1942 and was educated at Swanwick Hall Grammar school in Derbyshire before attending Keele University in Staffordshire. He graduated, with a BA (hons) in Physics and Philosophy, and a Diploma in education. Although Physics was his “bread and butter” subject, he retained an interest in philosophy, particularly philosophical theology and apologetics.

After Keele, he spent six years as a science teacher in a church secondary school in Tororo, Uganda, during which time he married Irene. After a short spell teaching in the UK, he entered teacher education before finally becoming a Senior Lecturer at the Manchester Metropolitan University. During this time he gained a Masters degree from the University of Salford. He has also had part time roles of tutor, tutor counsellor and assistant lecturer for the Open University.

Following his recent retirement, he has been able to spend more time on his writing.
