The importance of the prophecy of Zechariah can be seen in that there are over 70 quotations or allusions to it in the New Testament. It is a fascinating mix of symbol-laden dream-visions, direct communications from the Lord and two prophecies relating to Christ’s first and second comings. With this in mind, any attempt at a brief introduction is going to be a demanding task.
This booklet opens with the historical background, and then goes through Zechariah’s eight visions, followed by the messages he received from the Lord. After this we have the two prophecies, some parts of which relate to Christ’s earthly ministry, while others pertain to His second coming.
The writers are quite frank about the difficulties and the fact that much more study would be required to get to grips with all the nuances of this sometimes mystifying text, but, all things considered, this booklet is a good place to begin that adventure.
