Universalism, or universal reconciliation, is the view that everyone, in the end, will be given eternal life. This has become attractive to some Christians as a result of modern views about love and justice, and because some they love, such as children or grandchildren, do not believe in Christ. However, does the theological basis of universalism stand up to the careful scrutiny of Scripture?

Other Christians see universalism as dangerous. If it is true, then conversion is not necessary and evangelism is replaced by a greater focus on justice and liberation from poverty. Also there is no need for repentance and a change in life style, and there is no need to attend church.
