The first study considers the view of a number of Christian commentators who think Peter and company got it wrong! Some think James, the brother of Jesus, should have replaced Judas, while other think it should have been Paul. However, there were very good reasons why neither James nor Paul could fulfil the role, and Michael Penny goes it to the credentials needed to be one of the Twelve – credentials which neither James nor Paul had but which Matthias did.
