Bishop Miles Coverdale (1488- 1569) was not only one the the greats of the Reformation, he produced the first Bible in English and it carried the royal licence from Henry VIII and was therefore the first officially approved Bible translation in English to be used in churches.
However, Coverdale was concerned about how people would understand and interpret what they read. He was well-aware there would be many misunderstandings, so he gave directions to his readers, to help them understand the Scriptures. This paper highlights that advice.
