In this second revised edition of this book we are given and excellent portrait of James, the brother of Jesus. He was a man who, when Jesus was on earth, did not believe Him to be the Messiah. However, all that was to change, and we are given the reason why.
The second section of the book deals with the dating of the letter James wrote, showing it to be one of the first, if not the first, New Testament document.
The main part of the book, the biggest part, is a useful and thorough, easy to read, verse by verse commentary on the letter with new and very different insights.
Following this there are some very useful appendices dealing with important issues such as
- the problem of unanswered prayer;
- why James, amongst others, considered he was living in the last days and
- why he expected Christ to return soon.
