Christ did not teach in Parables until Matthew 13. This was such a surprisee to the disciples that they asked “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
The Lord’s reply was enigmatic. He said.“To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given … This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”
So how do parables ‘reveal’ truth top those who follow Christ, but ‘conceal’ truth to those who oppose Him?
