Most commentators hold the view that the mystery of godliness, spoken of in 1 Timothy 3:16, refers to Christ personal and as such it has been one of the proof texts for His deity.
Glen Burch avidly supports the scriptural testimony concerning the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ but he is of the view that in 1 Timothy 3:16 Paul was writing about Christ mystical, the Church which is His Body.
